AIDTC holds the “First Course in Artificial Intelligence”

In order to consolidate the position of Ajloun National University as a leading center for artificial intelligence and digital transformation, and an incubator for the focus of pioneering ideas and projects, and as an executive measure that is considered the beginning of implementing the plans and projects of the center affiliated with the Association of Arab Universities, the President of Ajloun National University, Prof. Dr. Firas Al-Hanandeh, inaugurated the first course in artificial intelligence in cooperation with the Crown Prince Foundation represented by the coordinator Waad Al-Samadi, and with the virtual presence of professors, researchers and students from a number of Arab universities, and the in-person presence of the Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Bajis Al-Junaidi, faculty members and students of the college. Al-Hanandeh said that this course is considered the first executive step for the vision of the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation at the university, expressing his pride in the center that will contribute to raising the level of the artificial intelligence system in scientific research and the teaching process, stressing that the center, headquartered at Ajloun National University, is a focal point for all Arab universities, contributing to the development of the technological methodology for education, and attracting the best talents and competencies in artificial intelligence locally and regionally. Al-Hanandeh pointed out the importance of using artificial intelligence as a tool and means in various disciplines, as it is an ancient and modern science rooted in all sciences.

During his speech, he called on researchers, experts and students from various universities to present ideas, applied tools and executive plans and integrate them to create emerging pioneering projects that are not monopolized by a specific party, in order to achieve several goals, the most important of which is keeping pace with global digital development, advancing various sciences in the field of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, and preparing competencies that have abundant knowledge and extensive experience to develop the technology sector.

Al-Hanandeh stated that the team of the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Center is in the process of developing the center's website and launching it soon, to be a link and means of networking between researchers, experts and students from various Arab universities to generate ideas, exchange projects and modern technologies, and disseminate the outputs so that our use of artificial intelligence becomes rooted for the public good of society.
In turn, Al-Samadi provided an introductory overview of the Crown Prince Foundation, its goals, vision, axes and programs, and an introduction to the Ajloun office in terms of the date of establishment and the commencement of work in the office, the ultimate goal of opening the office, and the most prominent activities implemented in the Ajloun office, emphasizing that the office is networking youth, entities and institutions according to the required framework. For their part, Dr. Mu'ayyad Alawneh and Dr. Moatasem Al-Khasawneh from the College of Information Technology provided a comprehensive explanation of artificial intelligence, its basic principles, the role of big data in artificial intelligence and its applications, in addition to interactive learning and how individuals engage in (AR) and augmented reality (VR) experiences, which makes learning more effective, and the role of artificial intelligence in the areas of assuming administrative tasks, privacy and security, healthcare, e-commerce and transportation. The professors touched on the ethics and challenges related to data privacy and its use in artificial intelligence applications.
