A delegation from the Chinese Embassy and Huawei visits the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Center to explore prospects for cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence and digital transformation

Prof. Dr. Firas Al-Hanandeh, Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Center affiliated with the Association of Arab Universities and President of Ajloun National University, received a high-level delegation from the Chinese Embassy in Amman and from Huawei’s global headquarters in China. The visit was attended by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, and Dr. Mohammad Nour Al-Samadi, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, to discuss avenues of joint cooperation between the two sides in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and applied scientific research.


During the meeting – in which the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Center was represented by Eng. Hassan Al-Qudah, Director of Development, and Dr. Ahmad Abu Shray‘a, Director of Innovation and Technical Development, and which was also attended by the deans of the faculties and a number of academic and administrative staff members – Dr. Al-Hanandeh welcomed the delegation and the attendees, and then reviewed the Center’s journey in developing the technological infrastructure and its efforts to employ artificial intelligence in education, research, and university administration. He stressed that the Center seeks to become a distinguished regional hub for technology and innovation, in partnership with leading global companies and educational institutions around the world.


Dr. Al-Hanandeh also pointed to the importance of cooperation with China and with Huawei, a world leader in information and communications technology, given their advanced expertise in the fields of digital transformation, the Internet of Things, and cloud computing. He explained that the Center, which belongs to the Association of Arab Universities and is hosted at Ajloun National University, aims to build strategic partnerships with research institutions and global companies to exchange knowledge, transfer technology, and train young Arab talents.

For his part, the spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy delegation expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and for the depth of relations between China and Jordan. He affirmed their keenness to support academic and technical cooperation with Jordanian universities, particularly Ajloun National University, which is distinguished by its ambitious scientific vision and leadership that believes in the role of artificial intelligence in serving sustainable development.

Representatives of Huawei also praised the level of technological advancement at Ajloun National University and the idea of establishing the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Center, affiliated with the Association of Arab Universities, within the university. They considered this a pioneering step in strengthening the position of Arab universities in modern technological fields and confirmed the company’s readiness to provide technical and scientific support and to organize advanced training programs for faculty members and students.


In his remarks, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, commended the pioneering role played by Ajloun National University in supporting the progress of Arab higher education through adopting qualitative initiatives that serve the future of Arab universities. He stressed that hosting the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Center of the Association at the university represents a model of constructive cooperation between Arab universities and leading global technology institutions.

For his part, the Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Mohammad Nour Al-Samadi, expressed his pride in this visit, which embodies the university’s vision of openness to the world. He affirmed that the Board of Trustees supports all initiatives that contribute to strengthening the university’s standing at the regional and international levels.


The visit concluded with an exchange of commemorative plaques between the two sides, as an expression of mutual appreciation and a confirmation of the continuation of dialogue and coordination towards signing a future memorandum of understanding that will include joint research and training projects, helping to build bridges of fruitful cooperation between the university, the Center, and the People’s Republic of China.
